DUBLIN, New Hampshire (January 30, 2008)–William Grueby’s pottery line from the late 1890s is featured in the January/February issue of Yankee Magazine in the “Antiques & Collectibles” column written by Catherine Riedel of Skinner Auctioneers and Appraisers.

Grueby’s work began at the height of the Arts & Crafts movement and arguably includes the most desired ceramics of the American art-pottery movement. He first studied the matte-glazed pottery made by French art potters at the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago, but returned home to Boston to perfect his glaze.

“When paired with Tiffany lampshades, wares may reach well into the six figures,” reports Riedel in the article. “Single pieces sell for 0 to ,000 or more depending on the size and complexity of color. For most devotees, the ultimate appeal lies in the soft matte glaze on that perfect Grueby green.”
