Valentine’s Day will be celebrated in style at The Chester Antiques & Fine Art Show at the County Grandstand, Chester Racecourse, Chester, from 14 - 17 February 2008.

Visitors will be welcome to view and buy a wide range of unique and memorable Valentine’s gifts with prices to suit every pocket, from less than £50 to more than £5,000. There will be something for every romantic looking for a truly unique and memorable present, from exquisite diamond-encrusted silver heart-shaped pendants, lockets, earrings, brooches and silver boxes, to charming early teddy bears, framed Victorian Valentine’s cards and Welsh love spoons. Sixty leading antiques dealers from across the Northwest, England and Wales will exhibiting at this regular winter fair that attracts collectors from all over the country.

Many exhibitors will also be highlighting more unusual presents to charm and impress a loved one - from 18th century wine glasses to 19th century watercolour paintings, miniature paintings presented as love tokens, Continental porcelain figurines featuring loving couples, elaborately decorated ‘flirting’ fans, love seats, decorated needleworks and a range of early English pottery with loving inscriptions. Visitors will be able to spot suggested Valentine’s Gifts by the red ribbons attached to the selected items around the stands.

Among the most affordable gifts will be a selection of framed Victorian and Edwardian Valentine’s cards. With prices from £20, they provide the perfect opportunity for lovers to express their affections in true romantic style.

The Chester Antiques & Fine Art Show provides an ideal opportunity for collectors and interior designers to view and buy a wide range of art, antiques and collectors’ items at prices to suit every pocket. With all exhibits strictly vetted for quality and authenticity, the fair is always a special occasion for buyers to discover traditional antiques and unique objets d’art for their home or private collection.

Among the exhibitors taking part will be a number of leading specialists. Showing silver and jewellery will be Terry Robert from Norfolk, Nicholas Shaw Antiques from West Sussex, Shapiro & Co. from London, Jeffrey Neal from London and Plaza from Wales. Specialising in ceramics will be John Newton from Hull, Roger de Ville from Staffordshire and Ben Cooper from Herefordshire; while among the fine art galleries will be Baron Fine Art from Chester, Brunswick Gallery from Lancashire, Ryland Fine Art from East Yorkshire, Phoenix Fine Art from Cheshire, Rowles Fine Art from Welshpool and Graham Bentley Watercolours from Warwickshire.

The range of furniture is always extensive, including 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th century pieces, from dealers including Richard and Susannah Midwinter Antiques from Staffordshire, Melody’s Antiques from Cheshire, Edward Pritchard from London, Sue Killinger from Buckinghamshire and C.S.Moreton Antiques from Perthshire. In other areas will be Cynthia Walmsley from Nottinghamshire with portrait miniatures, M.& N.Rugs from Manchester, Butler’s Antiques from Suffolk with wine-related antiques, and Catherine Hunt from Cheltenham with Chinese ceramics.
