THE first (Shanghai) China Antique and Artwork Exposition opens tomorrow at the Shanghai East Asia Exhibition Center. Organized by Shanghai Yunzhou Antique City, the four-day event features a high-end display section and previews by auction houses. The display area has 153 booths selling jade, ink-wash paintings, stone carvings, bronze vessels, antique furniture and gilded Buddhas. (St. Charles, Mo.) – Four important collections of American Brilliant Cut Glass – the rare and often colorful decorative glass pieces made mostly in this country between 1876 and 1916 and highly sought after by collectors – will be sold at auction on Saturday, May 31st, at the St. Charles Convention Center, starting at 9:30 a.m.. Antique dealer Mark Scherzer is selling a large portion of his 300+ pieces of Vaseline Glass at the Historic Burlington Antique and Art Emporium in Burlington City, New Jersey. Collecting for more than 20 years, Mark states, “I love the mystery of the glass and how it glows in the sunlight, but I must downsize.” Created in the mid 1800’s, Vaseline Glass was not perfected until the late 1890’s.
