Shenandoah Antiques Expo

. April 20, 2008

It only happens twice a year so put on your walking shoes and “shop for antiques until you drop” at the 42nd Shenandoah Antiques Expo in Fishersville, Virginia. This “antiques happening” takes place at Expoland in the Shenandoah Valley, May 2 to 4, and October 10 to 12. Fishersville is a truly unique antiques shopping experience, with over 400 dealers and thousands of customers from throughout the United States of America. Exhibitors display and sell antiques in three exhibition halls, four large barns, under tents, and outdoors.

What’s there? Americana is big, but dealers offer a bit of everything from 18th-century furniture to 1950’s collectibles. There are room displays with papered walls, and dealers on the field selling right off the truck. Deals are plentiful and early shoppers who enter the show on Friday at 10 a.m. usually go away happy. Customers get the first opportunity at buying. Exhibiting dealers are not allowed to set up or sell prior to 10 a.m. when customers enter on Friday. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, May 2; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 3; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 4.

Fishersville offers a great learning experience for the collector. Dealers love to share knowledge and are eager to answer questions. This “real” antiques show is a good place for beginning or advanced collectors to find authentic antiques at fair prices.

Augusta Expoland is located at exit 91 on I-64 between Staunton and Waynesboro, (near Lexington and Charlottesville), Virginia, and just five miles east of I-81. Hotels and restaurants are plentiful, but reservations should be made early.
