A collection of furniture from the prestigious five star London hotel, The Lanesborough, is to be sold at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, as part of its monthly Period Design sale on 29 March 2011.

The furniture, which has been in the hotel since its opening in 1991, has been brought to auction to make way for a new luxurious suite, designed by the internationally acclaimed interior designer Alberto Pinto. The suite will be located on the first floor, overlooking Hyde Park Corner, and will include four bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and four and a half bathrooms. Named The Lanesborough Suite, it will cost £14,000 plus VAT per night.

The 80-strong collection comprises chandeliers, mirrors, paintings, furniture and works of art with prices ranging from £30 to £3,000. All lots will be sold without reserve.

The Lanesborough, which is located opposite Hyde Park and Apsley House, the home of the Duke of Wellington, has played host to Royals, politicians and other high profile guests since its opening 20 years ago. It is known for its sophisticated yet discreet service, which includes a private 24-hour butler at the guests’ disposal.
