U.S. Antique Shows Reports a Stellar Inaugural Year

U.S. Antique Shows, the world’s leading producer of indoor antique shows, recently reported a successful launch of The Original Miami Beach Antique Jewelry Series with record attendance numbers and exceptional feedback.

“Our first jewelry series was a huge success,” said Dan Darby, group show director for U.S. Antique Shows and vice president of GLM. “As the industry’s largest producer of antiques and antique jewelry and watch shows, we take very seriously our role to help develop further enthusiasts for our markets and education is a very important component of that development.”

U.S. Antique Shows premiered The Original Miami Beach Antique Jewelry Series two days prior to the opening of The Original Miami Beach Antique Show. The jewelry conference held on Jan. 28-29, 2014, showcased notable jewelry experts with extensive knowledge on selected areas of jewelry history and included afternoon tours of the David Webb Exhibit at the Norton Museum of Art and the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. In addition, attendees were among the first to see The Original Miami Beach Antique Show before it opened to the public with a tour of selected jewelry exhibitor booths.

Elyse Zorn Karlin, co-director of the Association for the Study of Jewelry and Related Arts (ASJRA), and Gail Brett Levine, executive director of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) partnered with U.S. Antique Shows to plan and execute this new educational event.

“Gail and I were very pleased with how the inaugural jewelry series went. We had a great turnout with a nice mix of people — collectors, dealers, appraisers, and designers.” Karlin continues, “The ability to go out on the show floor and look at pieces after hearing a lecture about them was incredible…that opportunity rarely presents itself. I think everyone really enjoyed the afternoon field trips as well. We look forward to this event growing in the years to come.”

Nancy and Lucy Grogan attended the conference both days and were impressed with its informative nature. “We thought all the lectures were great, especially for beginners like us. They were both a good length and very unique.”

Attendee Jane Ramsey, a professional in the jewelry industry, stated she would definitely return for another year of the jewelry series. “I took pages of notes,” she exclaimed.

The 2015 Original Miami Beach Antique Jewelry Series is currently scheduled for Jan. 29-30 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. For the latest updates, visit www.MiamiBeachAntiqueShow.com
