Bonhams & Goodman Supports the National Trust Heritage Festival

Australian auctioneers Bonhams & Goodman are to support a sensational exhibition of ceramics held at the Mosman Library in NSW. All Fired Up celebrates the Society of Arts & Crafts of NSW, examing its impact on the development of decorative arts in Australia during the 20th century.

Starting in Mosman in 1906 the society brought together like minded local crafts people with the idea of promoting Australian flora and fauna as design inspiration. The society grew rapidly and its exhibitions were major Sydney events.

On display are fantastic and unique pieces of pottery by some of Australia’s most influential art potters dating from 1908 until 1950.

Included are works by Merric Boyd, William Ricketts, L J Harvey, Grace Seccombe, Olive Nock and Nell McCredie.

One of the most significant pieces on display is The Waratah Vase, dated 1912, by arts and crafts potter, Marian Munday. This piece turned up as part of a Mosman estate auction, where it had been used as a doorstop. It’s amazing that it has now returned to Mosman.

The exhibition is on view at
