Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Member Plaques at Legendary Auctions

Legendary Auctions, a leading Sports and American auction house will offer collectors a unique opportunity to own a treasured piece of baseball history. The auction house will offer a one-time sale of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame (MSHOF) bronze plaques of diamond legends in their June sales events. Bidding in the auction, which will be conducted online or over the phone, will begin on June 15 and conclude on June 24 and 25. The plaques available will include those of a Who’s Who of baseball including all-time Detroit Tiger great’s Ty Cobb; Al Kaline; Charlie Gehringer and Hank Greenberg.

The decision to make the plaques available to collectors is rooted in MSHOF’s mission to develop a permanent interactive sports experience that will showcase a new form of recognition of the honorees. The accomplishments of the HOF inductees will come to life through state-of-the-art, web-enabled multi-media content from extensive searchable archives complete with photos, news articles, audio and video highlights. The new sports experience will include the latest social media connections allowing fans to document their visit.

The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors and a variety of members of the Hall have researched the latest industry data and studies on sports history facilities, and have determined that future visitors will demand a rich and entertaining experience that 50 words on a plaque unfortunately cannot adequately deliver. So while MSHOF makes room for the new, they are confident they will find new homes for the treasured plaques among those who value the old.

“We believe that collectors will be extremely interested in purchasing these one-of-a-kind historical sporting treasures,” said Doug Allen, president, Legendary Auctions. “In fact, it is exactly this kind of rarity that gets the bidding blood of our collectors pumping. The chance to own something this unique is sure to capture considerable auction attention.”
