Dealers from at least twelve states will be converging in January for the premiere of Antiques in Charlottesville. The showcase event of antiques, decorative arts and fine art will be held January 22-24 at the Holiday Inn University Area.
“We’re coming to Charlottesville and bringing our friends with us,” says Jay Melrose, founding partner of Melrose & Duddy, Professional Antique Show Promoters. “Since announcing plans for the Charlottesville show we’ve seen tremendous support, both from dealers and from the Charlottesville community. Everyone is excited and we’re really fortunate for the group of distinguished exhibitors we’re able to bring into Charlottesville.”
During the three days of exhibition, dealers will be offering an array of antiques from period furniture to silver, rugs and jewelry in walled room settings. Exhibitors include A. E. Runge Jr. Oriental Rugs of Yarmouth, Maine; Howard Price Fine Art of Lake Worth, Florida, Mia Hudson Antiques of Franklin, Tennessee; D.L. Grissom Collection, Oxford, North Carolina and others.
Hours for the event are Friday 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $8, or $4 with a University of Virginia student id. The University Area Holiday Inn is centrally located at 1901 Emmet Street.
Jay Melrose, of Poland, Ohio, began selling antiques at shows in the mid 1980’s and, armed with that experience, has worked to rethink the formula of antiques show promotion. Today Melrose & Duddy shows feature an exciting array of knowledgeable dealers who are engaging generations of new buyers.
