The 53rd Annual Fox Valley Antiques Show in St. Charles, Illinois March 13 – 14, 2010
Difficult to find, there are a startling few ‘real’ antiques shows around the country that feature invitation-only dealers exhibiting genuine antiques, carefully screened for authenticity, and meeting very specific standards. One such venue, the Spring Fox Valley Antiques Show, returns to the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles for the 53rd time on March 13 & 14. Furnishings of every shape and size, from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries will be exhibited by 55 dealers from 14 states. Displayed in room settings, each piece tells an interesting story of our culture in centuries past.
Unusual, too, is a show produced by the antiques dealers themselves; in this case, the Chicago Suburban Antiques Dealers Association, a not-for-profit organization that this spring celebrates our heritage by collaborating with its sponsor, Garfield Farm Museum in LaFox, Illinois. This museum is the only surviving, historically-intact Illinois farmstead being restored as a working 1840’s living history farm and inn, a true asset for teaching American history. Admission of $8 benefits the Museum.
An added value, continued is the tradition of presenting mini-lectures on antiques throughout the show at no extra charge.
Show hours are Saturday, March 13, 10 – 6, and Sunday, March 14, 10 – 4, at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 South Randall Road, St. Charles, Illinois (between Routes 38 and 64). For further information visit www.csada.com or call (815) 838-0606.
