ART AND ANTIQUE DEALERS LEAGUE OF AMERICA ANNOUNCE NEW SPRING SHOW

The Art and Antique Dealers League of America (AADLA) have set the date for their new Spring Show, which will open to the public on April 28 to May 2, 2011 at the Park Avenue Armory, it was announced by Clinton Howell, President of the AADLA. The opening night invitation-only preview will take place the preceding evening. The League has selected The Art Fair Company to produce and manage the fair.

“We look forward to working with the Art Fair Company,” said Howell. “Their reputation as fair organizers is excellent.” According to Howell, approximately sixty American dealers will participate. “With seventy-five per cent of the show booked, we are encouraged by our members’ enthusiastic response to their debut fair at the Park Avenue Armory.”

“Our intent is to create a high-quality, rigorously vetted fair with a diverse mix of specialties from all disciplines ranging from antiquities to the twentieth century,” said Howell. “We want this fair to reflect today’s sophisticated collector, whose tastes have become more eclectic and varied.” Among the premier galleries in the United States who will participate are: Kentshire Galleries, Hyde Park Antiques, George Subkoff Antiques, Jack Kilgore and Company, Dalva Brothers, Arnold Lieberman, Alfred Bullard, and Donald A. Heald Rare Books, to name several.

“We are honored that the prestigious dealers of the League selected The Art Fair Company to manage their inaugural fair at the Park Avenue Armory,” said Michael Franks, the company’s CEO, who will act as Show Director. “Our goal is to help the League create a fair that reflects their high standards and make it one of the pre-eminent fairs in North America.”
The Art and Antique Dealers League of America, Inc., is the oldest and principal antiques and fine arts organization in America. The purpose in formatting the league was to bring the various members of the art and antiques trade closer together to promote a greater understanding among themselves and with the public, and generally to devote itself to the best interest of dealers and collectors of antiques and works of art.

Michael Franks, the former COO of dmg world media, joined forces with Mark Lyman, founding director of the Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fairs (SOFA), to acquire The Art Fair Company from the British events organizer in 2009. The Art Fair Company now produces the SOFA fairs in Chicago, New York and Santa Fe, which are regarded as the leading contemporary decorative art and design fairs in the world. They also produce The INTUIT OUTSIDER AND FOLK ART FAIR, in Chicago. Lyman serves as President of The Art Fair Company, as well as Show Director. The company also provides professional promotional and operational support to other art and antique fair producers.
