55th London International Antiquarian Book Fair

The 55th London International Antiquarian Book Fair will be held at Olympia (London W14) from Thursday, 24th May to Saturday, 26th May, 2012. This is the first time the Fair will be held in May and in a bigger and more attractive venue – the National Hall.

Organised by the ABA (the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association), the world’s premier book Fair attracts over 160 booksellers from around the globe selling illustrated books, manuscripts, fine bindings, maps, prints, photography and associated ephemera, from the genesis of printing in the 15th Century to today.

The Fair is a haven for collectors with its unparalleled array of books and related material covering a vast range of interests, but it is not just about finding the missing pieces for your collection. While the Fair prides itself in offering first, rare and fine editions in all areas of literature, the humanities and science, it is also very welcoming to visitors who are not regular collectors.

With special guided tours to learn more about the fascinating treasures on display and expert lectures, which will give an insight into book collecting and how to start your very own collection, the Fair is the ideal place to dip a toe in the water of Antiquarian Book buying. There will even be special, more family focused events and talks on the Saturday to introduce the ‘digital age’ youngsters to some fascinating books.

For fans of old books, there will also be bookbinding and calligraphy demonstrations and the ABA Roadshow will help you find out more about your own books and manuscripts and whether you are sitting on a real treasure.

Whether you are an expert collector or trying to find a first edition of your favourite book or simply want to add some style to your interiors with a properly stocked bookshelf of your all time favourites, this year’s Fair won’t disappoint you.

Tickets to the Fair may be purchased on the door for £10 each, £15 for two.
