Museum of Idaho presents Carousels Art and History in Motion an exhibition on view through May 27.
Complete with a working carousel that visitors can ride, the exhibition presents some of the finest and rarest artifacts to be found in the world of carousels.
Comprised of more than 100 carousel figures, this exhibition will present an overview of the history of carousel carving companies and styles and evolving stages of development in the world. Subsections of the project discuss exotic animal figures, the armored horses, farm animals, patriotic themes, chariots, rare and unusual figure carving, the importance of restoration and preservation, and a look at the science behind the engines, gears and motion.
