The Phoenix and Consolidated Glass Collectors’ Club would like to announce their 16th Annual Convention to be held July 24 through July 26, 2008, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.
“This year, we are very privileged to have Howard Seufer as our guest speaker,” says Sarah Smith, club board member. Mr. Seufer worked at the Fenton Art Glass Company in Williamstown, West Virginia, for 28 years, most recently as their Quality Control Manager. He has also worked in automatic machine glass production for General Electric. Seufer has spoken at several national glass clubs events, and he has extensive knowledge of all aspects of glassmaking.
Phoenix glass was produced in Monaca, Pennsylvania, and Consolidated glass was produced in Coraopolis, which has been the site of the Annual Convention since 1983.
This convention features colorful glassware displays and pieces of this desirable glass are offered for sale from private collections. In addition, there is also a members’ consignment auction.
Club members come to the convention from all over the United States, and the club welcomes new members. If you are a Phoenix or Consolidated glass collector, or are just interested in learning about this glass, join the club during one of the public sessions of the convention.
The public is invited to view the glass from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, and Friday, July 25; and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26. For further information, call Sarah Smith at (952) 930-9352, or contact Gia Tatone at (412) 983-8541 or [email protected].
