Conestoga Auction Company Selects Proxibid as its Online Provider

Proxibid, the world’s largest provider of live auction webcasting services, today announced that Conestoga Auction Company has selected the Company to provide live online bidding for its upcoming auction of The George Kegerreis Collection of antique American arms and accoutrements. The two-day live event will take place Friday, March 27 at 5:00 p.m. EST and Saturday, March 28 at 8:00 a.m. EST with live online bidding taking place at those times. This auction features a 45-year-old collection which includes more than 200 lots of 19th century belt plates, belts, cartridge boxes, long arms, edged weapons, canteens, ordnance and paper cartridges, handguns, uniforms and powder flasks. Federal, Confederate, and Militia including rare Alabama and Maryland belt plates are also included in this live auction webcast. More than 50 belts in this collection include the well known phrase, “taken from a dead Confederate at Antietam,” written in ink. Other auction highlights include:
• Approximately 150 long arms, ranging from a U.S. surcharged Charleville and a CP musket to a variety of percussion muskets and carbines with several presentation muskets and a Pattern 1816 converted to percussion but retaining the frizzen and pan
• Two Confederate Cavalry sabers, a Boyle, Gamble, and Mac Fee saber bayonet
• A presentation U.S. M1850 Staff and Field Officer sword highlight the edged weapons with a number of ivory grip eagle head swords, U.S. M1798, multiple M1812’s, M1819’s, M1833’s, M1840’s, M1860’s with a nice M1833 Artillery Short sword in scabbard with buff frog on a buff belt
• The many cartridge boxes and their shoulder straps are in fine condition with clear markings
• Wood canteens are plentiful in this collection, many painted and having state initials including one Regimentally marked, plus a tin Confederate drum canteen with shoulder strap
• The cannon was recovered from Lake Champlain in the 20th century and is so marked. It complements the numerous cannon projectiles, both Confederate and Federal, shell and shot
• Paper small arms cartridges are also plentiful with unopened packets of musket and revolver cartridges plus over 50 single specimens
• The selection of handguns includes a very rare Peter Brong flintlock Kentucky pistol
• This collection is rounded out with a selection of flasks including a half dozen Peace flasks
• ID’d Civil War Officers uniform with a sword, an Artillery jacket, an excellent Militia hat
• Noted painting of a New York Militia officer with musket in a campground
