Philadelphia, PA – January 28, 2008 – In need of a late-winter adventure? Looking for new sources of affordable antiques? Join a small band of antique-lovers for a bargain hunt through Central Europe next month. Friendly prices – good company – shipping included. First come, first served – only two spaces left.
The dates are February 17-26. Prague, Dresden, Leipzig and Nürnberg as well as small towns and villages in deepest Saxony and upcountry Bohemia are on the itinerary.
The tour features the two biggest and best markets in
the region as well as under-the-radar dealers, warehouses and trade sources off the beaten track.
Most of the area we’ll be combing was part of the East Bloc. Virtually no American antique buffs venture there, so it’s prime hunting territory for adventurous antiquers looking for an alternative to higher-priced France, England, Holland and Belgium. Container shipping is included in the tour.
The antique tours, offered by Philadelphia-based Heart of Europe Tours, were featured in “Country Living” magazine in November 2007.
“Our February trip focuses on a region where prices are friendlier. It includes visits to under-the-radar shops, trade sources, wholesalers and markets away from tourist centers,” says owner-dealer Tom Conrad, who will lead the trip. Participants benefit from group purchasing, tax breaks and dealer discounts.
Since transatlantic container shipping is included, participants can focus on “the hunt” and don’t have to worry about how they will get their treasures back to the States. The group container translates into huge savings over sending individual items home on your own – the shipping alone is worth thousands of dollars.
