The Society for Old Ivory and Ohme Porcelains has announced plans for its 13th annual convention to be held on Thursday, April 24, through Saturday, April 26, at the Black Bear Inn in Orono, Maine. This annual meeting is held each year for collectors and admirers of this beautiful porcelain made by the Ohme Porcelain Works in Silesia from 1881 to 1928.

Diane Buck of Lincoln, Maine, and Alma Hillman of Winterport, Maine, are the co-chairmen of this year’s convention, and have planned many interesting programs as well as a silent auction and a live auction of Ohme porcelains. Bob Herb of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Alma Hillman are the auction chairmen. On the final night a banquet shall be held at the hotel for all attendees.

Last year the 2007 meeting was held in Nacogdoches, Texas, and was chaired by Nancy and Don Reily of Lufkin, Texas. Plans are being finalized for the 2009 meeting to be held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Spokane, Washington in 2010; and Ontario, Canada in 2011.

Officers of this group are: Gary Hamlin, Spring Valley, Minnesota, president; Robert Herb, Hillsboro, Oregon, vice-president; Patsy Fitzwater-Wiemken, Milwaukee, Oregon, and Ridgeville, Ohio, secretary-treasurer. Directors are Linda Christensen, Kansas City, Missouri; Jenna Kuttruff, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Clair Fisher, Tonasket, Washington; Rhonda Lambes, Hinckley, Illinois; and Don Reily, Lufkin, Texas. Dianne Buck of Lincoln, Maine, serves as historian and Carl and Jenna Kutruff of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, are the newsletter editors.
